What would happen if we gave the bathroom the same design gravitas as in the living room? Giuseppe Bavuso’s Fjord suggests exactly that.

Noorth has unveiled Fjord, a bathroom furniture collection designed by Giuseppe Bavuso that pushes modular design into a new era of elegance and technical precision. The system is the synthesis of contemporary functionality and minimalist flair, a modern architectural grid for the bathrooms of our time.
At the core of Fjord is an architectural language constructed from pure lines and structural lightness. The system is built around a rigorous aluminium structure, and is available in both freestanding and wall-hung versions. Clients can customise their setups freely, using an array of drawer units, open shelving, washbasins, mirrors, and other integrated accessories. Rather than prescribing an aesthetic, Fjord acts as a grid into which users can compose their own environment.

The collection’s extensive finishes reflect Noorth’s attention to materiality and detail. The metal structures feature six colour-ways of metallic lacquer finishes: platinum, zinc, quartz, amber, titanium, and basalt, providing the backbone of the system with industrial elegance. Shelving units expand the vocabulary with smoked glass, six embossed aluminium finishes, and a variety of woods, ranging from Canaletto walnut to thermally treated oak. The wood surfaces add warmth and tactility to the system’s otherwise cold and rigorous essence. Lastly, base units include a large spectrum of matt or glossy lacquer colours, as well as the full array of metallic and wood finishes available for the shelves.
Noorth was founded on the legacy of Milldue, a company established in 1976 near Venice, and it represents the group’s most contemporary brand identity. The brand’s ethos is encapsulated in its name, evoking purity, simplicity, and a connection to nordic nature. Under the second generation of the family’s leadership, Giorgio and Stefano Brescacin, the company has positioned Noorth as an international reference in high-end bathroom design, rooted in Italian craftsmanship but with a global outlook.
Giuseppe Bavuso is an established designer based near Milan, with a stylistic signature based in clean geometries and a focus on junctions and details. Trained as an architect, his career has spanned interior design and furniture, leading him to work with leading companies like Rimadesio, Poliform, and Ernestomeda. In the Fjord collection, we can clearly see his architectural background, as the linear grid shapes the spatial identity of the entire bathroom instead of being a simple cabinet.
What Fjord achieves is a shift in the perception of the bathroom, it is not just an utilitarian space in the home, but it can be a living environment worthy of the same design reserved for the social spaces of the house, like kitchens and dining halls. As rituals of wellness and care become central to contemporary cosmopolitans, the bathroom becomes a site of retreat and relaxation. Fjord’s architectural proposition acknowledges this shift and gives it form, through high customisability and expression, without sacrificing elegance and coherence.
